The Knitgrrl Show #9: Knitting in Baghdad
Yes, you read that correctly. Show #9 will be coming to you live from Baghdad with US Army specialist Lorie Jewell and her knitting friends.
I first met Lorie (pictured above) on the Debbie Stoller Stitch ‘n Beach cruise last month. She took her leave time with us on the boat, and as you can see, we liked her so much we knit her an afghan to take back to Iraq!
The show is airing at a special time, 11:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday the 29th of April (which is 6:00 a.m. Baghdad time). If you can’t listen and call in live, please feel free to submit comments on this post and we’ll ask Lorie your questions for you.
I’m hoping to post some of her hilarious knitting-in-uniform photos for you before the show airs. It’s especially funny when she hands her knitting to some tough-looking young soldier and makes him pose… think Yarn Harlot sock + audience shot, but more incongruous.
That is so terrific that y’all knit her an afghan! I know she must have great pictures.
