Lettuce Knit and the textile museum
(aka how I spent Saturday, 30 September — both photos by Kim)
My favorite yarn store in Toronto. And favorite yarn store cat.
Working on my contribution to the Scar Project at the Textile Museum. Eventually, I drew a sort of dragon/phoenix creature around the raised representation of my elbow scar… I’ve often imagined its twisty shape to be a dragon’s shadow.
By the way, I bought some yarn (what? buying yarn on this trip? You’re kidding!), and I’ve started a new sweater to represent the tour. The base yarn, a plain oatmeal-colored skein from Lettuce Knit, is Cascade Eco Wool. At each yarn store on the tour, I’m buying a skein (or two…or three…or another suitcase), and working it into the sweater as I move along. So far, it’s the Eco Wool, Noro Kureyon, Noro Silk Garden and a ball of multicolor Divé.
The sweater is a top-up knit-in-the-round cardigan-to-be. Size 10 (6 mm) needles. Progress photos and yarn color details soon! I’m 25 rows in at this point… and I know I have to drop and fix a stitch I knit instead of purled when I was knitting in the dark tonight (Kim drove us from Rochester to Albany).
